PaperCut Mobility Print Replaces Google Cloud Print
PaperCut Mobility Print is the new cloud-based print option for businesses and institutions. Last year, Google announced that Google Cloud Print will no longer be supported after December 31, 2020. So, if you haven’t heard this news, or you have, and haven’t found a replacement, we’re here to help.
First, moving forward, you will still be able to print directly to local and network printers from Chromebooks OR you can use an alternate cloud-based solution.
How do you know which option is right for you? It depends on your needs.
The direct print feature will work if:
- You work or teach in a 100% Chromebook environment
- You are using managed Chromebooks and have the ability to deploy printers through G Suite
- All printers in your environment support Chromebook CUPS/IPP Printing (that’s about 85% of printers)
- Direct print is best if you don’t need to see print behavior, there are no print policies, and no need for secure print release.
If you need more security and insight, Google (and Braden) recommends using the only free alternative, PaperCut Mobility Print. Now, we don’t just recommend this application because it’s free, it’s also one of the best Print Management Software programs out there. We are confident you will be happy with this new alternative and we can help you switch, if you need.
So, what does PaperCut Mobility Print offer?
- Ability to print from Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, and iPad devices. This a great solution for businesses or entities whose environments have a mix of devices.
- Print from the cloud or guest networks
- Support for all brands of printers
- Easy setup, maintenance and usability
Mobility Print does lack higher end security features and print control options, but you can always upgrade to PaperCut MF with Mobility Print. (PaperCut Blog)
